Durham Riverside stormed through the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-AA playoffs until losing 49-19 in the state championship game to Charlotte Independence, which won its seventh consecutive title. Greenville Rose beat West Charlotte in the 4-A final. The Rampants have won four straight championships.
