Cummings' Jones confirms Hargrave destination
Dwight Jones Jr., a multi-sport standout from Cummings High School, said he’s headed to Har-grave Military Academy for at least one semester.
Dwight Jones Jr. signed in February to play football at North Carolina. Instead, he’ll play later this summer at Hargrave. He said he needs a better SAT score before he can enroll at North Caro-lina.
Dwight Jones Jr. was an all-state player in football and basketball, helping Cummings to state champion-ships in both sports. He was a highly recruited player in football, fielding offers from several major-college programs before settling on North Carolina.
Dwight Jones Jr., a receiver, might have factored into North Carolina’s plans for this season.
Dwight Jones Jr. said he wants to join the North Carolina program in January for the spring semester.
He said he doesn’t know any of his future Hargrave teammates, but said he understands that some other highly touted receivers will join him at the prep school in Chatham, Va.
He’ll take a positive attitude with him to Hargrave, he said. He said he’s looking to make the most of the opportunity when he starts workouts and school there next month.
